It is imperative for you to understand that you may call SandyPines at any hour of the day or night to speak directly with a staff member in regard to your child. You may speak directly with your child between 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. nightly. Phone calls during this time are limited to ten minutes per resident to ensure that everyone has a chance to use the phone. If this time period conflicts with your family’s schedule, you may contact your family therapist to make arrangements.

Due to confidentiality, a phone code will be given to you upon admission. To get information regarding your child, the code must first be given. We stress that you do not share this code with anyone, including your child.

Your child will have an individualized multidisciplinary treatment plan, developed by the treatment team, within 10 days of admission. Parents are invited and encouraged to participate in this initial Treatment Team meeting. The treatment team is led by the psychiatrist and consists of the charge nurse, program supervisor, primary therapist and other professionals as needed. The therapist will provide you with a copy of the treatment plan.

The primary therapist will assist your family and/or significant others as a family unit. They will be responsible for helping you and your family to establish an effective support system and will guide the therapeutic/change process to facilitate individual growth. The therapist will also help with the economic, social, educational and emotional factors related to aftercare planning.

The educational component is provided in house by Martin County School District. All credits and grades are transferable to your child’s home school.

SandyPines uses A Balanced Day Positive Reinforcement Program level system to monitor your child’s progress in areas such as group participation, social interactions and behavior. With each advancement of level, your child will receive increased responsibilities and privileges.
